Does it feel like time is moving way too fast? So much to do and so little time?
I am very familiar with this feeling, and so are most people that I talk to. so here are a few tips to help to slow life down....
Plan each day: Remember to include the things you want to do as well as the things you must do. Schedule time to have fun and make sure you treat it like any other thing on your schedule. Schedule time to meditate or relax as well. You’ll find that life feels less busy when you have successfully scheduled your day
Get outside: Spending time outside has several benefits. Fresh air is naturally calming. Sunlight improves mood and wakes up your mind. There are more distractions outside which calm your mind from its stresses
Just do it!: Rather than putting things off, talking about or thinking about doing them. Just do it! Waiting that 5 minutes to start can turn into an hour so easily!
Physical exercise: Exercising 20 minutes a day is an important step in improving stress control and slowing life down. choose something you enjoy doing like walking, dancing, or playing your favourite sport. After exercise your body experiences a wave of relaxation. Exercise is good for both physical and mental health
Keep a journal: Choose to write down each evening at least 10 specific and genuinely positive things that happened during the day. This teaches you to focus more on positive things every day. Then write any 'persistent thoughts' as these have a tendency to make life feel more stressful, prevent sleep, and cause you to lose focus. Once put onto paper your brain knows you will remember
Practice positive thinking: There are many stressors in life ―bills, relationships, work, and so on. Your stress comes from the way you react to life's stressors. The next time you are presented with a negative situation instead of letting yourself get worked up about it, take a deep breath and think of a positive response. Positive affirmations are another great way to help train your mind to stay away from negative thoughts. Take a personal idea or goal and make it into a positive statement, repeat this statement to yourself daily. Remember to phrase the statement as if it is already true. Not “I want to lead a more relaxed life,” but, “I lead a relaxed life.” This tells your subconscious to believe the statement and make it a reality
Sing!: Research shows that singing has many health benefits, including inducing effective breathing and releasing feel good hormones (endorphins)
